The "Distorts Series" as it is now known, all started when I saw a call for entry to an exhibition that restricted the dimensions of the sculptural form to 4.5" x 7" x 12". (A Shoe Box) I set forth and created the first grouping of "Distorts" as part of this call for entry. It began a journey that had me eventually set a goal to create a series of 100. Along with the size parameter, one other restriction was self imposed — that being to have some crocheted stitch somewhere within the completed form. The works have all been created without drawings and are free-form (without any preconceived notion of the final work). Here is the visual path that series has taken (and continues) after years of developing these forms.
