"Time Line" Show at the Mac Gallery, Victoria, BC

Nothing like a show to motivate one to see progress happen in the studio. This show called "Time Line" saw the first group of 25 Distorts show as an installation . . it was encouraging to now imagine the next 75 to make the series of 100.

Distort # 01 - The begining

The "Distorts Series" as it is now known, all started when I saw a call for entry to an exhibition that restricted the dimensions of the sculptural form to 4.5" x 7" x 12". (A Shoe Box) I set forth and created the first grouping of "Distorts" as part of this call for entry. It began a journey that had me eventually set a goal to create a series of 100. Along with the size parameter, one other restriction was self imposed — that being to have some crocheted stitch somewhere within the completed form. The works have all been created without drawings and are free-form (without any preconceived notion of the final work). Here is the visual path that series has taken (and continues) after years of developing these forms.
