A masher used as the armature in this piece. A "cousin" to the work that sold at the "Hooked" show. I've been busy working on segments of pieces and finally at a place of completion around some of them. More posts coming soon.
I has been awhile since I've logged on here . . New images are soon to be posted . . it has been a busy time with the series currently in 2 shows at the moment and next week the works will join an installation worked titled "Hooked" at the Slide Room Gallery here in Victoria.
The exploration continues . . a call yesterday from an artist curating a show in Courtenay, BC in April. . . a number of new pieces are underway . .they'll be uploaded in the weeks ahead as they get completed.
This piece was constructed primarily on the bus trips to and from Vancouver. . . and completed yesterday with the crocheting of a toile (synthetic muslin) along the edge and addition of a pouch of fragmented threads. Interesting responses from people as I worked on it in the bus and on the ferry. Most fascinated was a Chinese grandmother and son visiting family on the island. It seems the lack of function was a major concern . . what does it "do"???
